“Creating Memories” by Robert Whiting

Robert:
“My interest in the style of Hudson River School has greatly influenced my work and I have endeavored to combine this love of landscape painting in my figurative work. Having been introduced to trompe l’oeil through the works of Harnett, van Hoogstraten, Peto, and most recently Haberle, I combine both landscape painting and my own particular brand of humor into most of my work. Since my retirement and our move to our Florida Studio the landscapes may have changed but the love of landscape painting continues albeit with more focus on color. My goal is to create greater illusions, reflecting more current themes while paying homage to the old masters. The objective is not only to deceive the viewer but to also entertain them with subtle humor and sometimes glimpses into my life.”

His painting “Apollo’s Niche” is currently on exhibit in the Members Gallery.
