“Our youth are dealing with so much today, and art is a great way to express emotions and share inspirational messages that surround compassion, care, and inspire,” said Alyona Ushe, Executive Director of the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance.
High school student Noelia Dominguez-Negron entered the competition with a work that depicts the happiness and comfort students, and teachers feel with one another at school.
“Most students often go to school to either find closure or love they can’t find at home,” said Dominguez-Negron, who attends Somerset College Preparatory Academy. “With 2020 being how it is, some of those students aren’t able to go to school and get that closure.”
About the Contest: The Alliance invites students to enter into four categories: Elementary, Middle, High-school, and College. A First- and Second-place winner will be awarded in each category. The Alliance will present participants’ artwork at various venues, in an upcoming county-wide exhibition tour in the fall of 2020.
