A.R.T. – Area Regional Transit Vehicles Feature Artwork
by St. Lucie Cultural Alliance Members
Over 30 local artists, including many students, were awarded a $500 stipend each for their artwork which is now featured on a fleet of
St. Lucie County public buses, para-transit & micro-transit vans, and other vehicles currently in service in our area.
A total of 97 works of art were submitted by 49 regional artists. Each artist was allowed to submit up to three images.
A five-member selection committee then voted to select which pieces of art would be emblazoned on the vehicles.
Area Regional Transit (ART) provides public transportation within St. Lucie County. There are eight bus routes, one micro-transit service area, and door-to-door para-transportation for eligible individuals. In addition to operating fixed-route services, St. Lucie County is the designated Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) for the County service area.
The CTC is responsible for coordinating and/or providing transportation to individuals who meet the requirements of Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) because of age, income, or disability, where the individual cannot drive or has no access to other transportation options. TD service connects qualified individuals to medical, employment, educational, nutritional, or other life-sustaining trips.
