Member Spotlight – Treasure Coast International Film Festival
The Treasure Coast International Film Festival, also known as TCIFF, has been dedicated to the promotion of independent and foreign films as an artform and to bring films of artistic and cultural importance to ourcommunity.
Founded in 2007, TCIFF was born out of an idea that was churning within Film producer/ director and original festival Co-founder Jose Garofalo for many years. Since relocating to St. Lucie County in 1989 from New York City to establish the Hollywood Video stores, Jose Garofalo had always looked for any way to share his passion for filmmaking with others. While writing, producing, and directing various feature films and television programs throughout the years, Jose eventually found himself teaching in the Film and Television programat Palm Beach State College, where he was invited to sit on the Film and Television Curriculum Board responsible for developing its film program. He was then invited by the Palm Beach International Film Festival Executive Director to help expand the College’s film students’ opportunities by showcasing their short films and film projects at the Palm Beach International Film Festival.
It wasn’t till 2007 that Jose felt that the Treasure Coast was ready for an international film festival. Now, 14 years later, the Treasure Coast International Film Festival (TCIFF) is a much-anticipated spectacular event that highlights the best of the independent film industry. It will be held October 13 through October 17 and will be taking place at various locations throughout the Treasure Coast.
TCIFF has celebrated the culture and art of the moving image through filmmaking. Sponsorship support has reflected a commitment to this community of cinema artists and has helped provide educational seminars to the local community and students interested in the industry. However, this year TCIFF is taking a major step in taking the festival to an unprecedented level never reached before.
This year, TCIFF is proud to announce that with the partnership of Puerto Rican Association for Hispanic Affairs, Inc. and the additional partnership of the St. Lucie Cultural Arts Alliance, TCIFF is expanding to celebrate Music and Art as part of our 5-day celebration, honoring local artist and musicians as well as internationalfilmmakers and artists.
It will be the first International Film, Music and Arts Festival of its kind on the Treasure Coast.
There will be an opening night screening and Reception Gala on Thursday, October 17 in the evening.Screenings would run throughout the day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each evening will culminate with filmmakers and artists. The festival will wrap up with the highly anticipated Awards Gala in honor of all our artists. Additionally, we will be holding seminar classes by top industry professionals indoors, while outdoors, our Art and Music fest portion of TCIFF will offer lots of music, art and creative fun for the entire family.
