Linda Relis has been a professional oil painter for over 30 years. Her interest in art began at an early age with drawing. Now, she describes her work as traditional realism inspired by the works of the “Old Masters.”

See her work at the Justice Inaugural Art Exhibit, opening May 20th at the St. Lucie County Courthouse located at 218 South 2nd Street, Fort Pierce, FL 34950

Linda is inspired by many subjects. One of her first sources of inspiration were the sights and smells of her aunt’s farm in Vermont. This experience started her lifelong love of nature. Over time, North American animals have become her specialty, especially the birds she sees around her Florida home. She has been a member of the Society of Animal Artists for many years.

Since moving to Port St. Lucie from New York 20 years ago, Linda has witnessed tragic damage to the natural environment. She decided to work toward increased public awareness about the dangers of over-development.

Linda received her arts education at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the Parsons School of Design, and the California Art Institute. Her paintings are part of many private and corporate collections throughout the country and are included in the State of Florida’s permanent art collection through their Art in Public Buildings Program. Her work has been shown in traveling exhibitions and museum shows.

In 1995, she founded the St. Lucie Professional Arts League in Port St. Lucie. Since then, she has been appointed to the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Board and the Port St. Lucie Public Art Advisory board for Art in Public Places. Currently teaching as a private art instructor in her home studio, she occasionally lectures to various art groups in Florida.
