A new event combining the mind-opening benefits of art with the healing benefits of mindfulness is coming to the Treasure Coast.

The Treasure Coast Arts & Mindfulness Fest, organized by the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 22-23 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Event Center, 9221 S.E.

Event Center Place, Port St. Lucie. Admission is free.

The festival is designed to enhance the cultural community and inspire guests to improve their everyday lives through art and mindfulness activities and practices.

The event will have live music, dance productions and spoken-word performances on stage, a children’s corner featuring family activities and crafts and food trucks with healthy food choices.

Deena Rahill, a certified sound healing practitioner who is organizing the mindfulness part of the festival, will play a set of crystal bowls in a live performance while Lisa Jill Allison paints a canvas for a symbiotic art and sound experience.

Alternative health practitioners will address areas of yoga, reiki, Pilates, tai chi, nutrition, massage, acupuncture and hypnotherapy.

Attendees can find all-natural soaps, handmade crystal jewelry and sound healing instruments and have a Tarot card reading or a chakra analysis.

The event reflects the diversity of the artists and the scope of alternative health methods. Artists and crafters include painters, potters, photographers and sculptors; artists who create works from recycled components; fashion designers; and jewelers.

Proceeds will benefit the alliance’s grant fund for artists and cultural organizations, which will further empower the organization to showcase local and regional talent.
