See pictures below for inspiration! Bas Relief/Low Relief Sculpture Class with Cathleen. Students may create anything they envision. This is for the beginner to the experienced. During the first session, we create the cradled panel structure, then we decorate the blank “canvas”. Students may bring in their ideas or borrow ours. Students may create their own themed piece with guidance for a successful outcome and aesthetics. If you have a vision in your mind, please bring it with you! Students come in on Day 1 to create the cradled panel. Day 2, after the clay panel has set up, students will come in to decorate it with their vision or the examples provided. The piece then needs to dry slowly and get bisque fired. Once bisque fired, students return to the studio (Day 3), for an independent study to use colored Stroke & Coat glazes to paint their pieces. Day 3 is tentatively scheduled for April 10th at 12 pm. The course includes the clay, the bisque firing, and glaze firing, instruction and the use of commercial glazes to create a vibrant piece. This is the only class we offer where students return to glaze their work.
