Kurinuki Box Project Adult & Youth

Join us to create these beautiful Kurinuki boxes. They look like gems and one can envision a wedding ring placed inside these sweet little boxes! Kurinuki is a Japanese method of hollowing out clay from a solid block of clay. We will learn to hollow out our boxes and create lids. Then we will chisel and tear off the clay from the exterior walls. These boxes take a long time to dry so the pickup of completed work may be 4 weeks or longer. They need to dry slowly, as we don’t want them to crack if they dry too fast! Note that students will be able to select from a number of the pre-formed box/rectangular shapes.
