Bas Relief/Low Relief & Sculpture Class with Local Sculptor Eduardo Gomez Rojas

$240This sculpture class taught by Eduardo Gomez Rojas is a step-by-step demonstration of the techniques involved in sculpting low relief in clay. Sorry, we can’t bring in the model. You will have to work from your pictures.
Mon./Thurs. November 11 & 14, 18 & 21, 10 AM – 1 PM
The class covers basic anatomy and anatomical proportions. Due to the physical limitations of clay, the pose will be such that an armature is not required. Foreshortening techniques on a 2D plane will be discussed and developed Students learn how to use the shape and the planes to obtain a general likeness and study different ways of modeling. Basic aesthetic issues involved in designing a sculpture is covered as well as how to prepare it for firing or molding along with different mounting options. Surface finishing techniques are covered in an additional class after the piece has been bisque-fired. The course includes one bisque firing and enough clay to create one piece. Additional clay is available for purchase from the studio.
This class is for all levels and meets 4 times. Open Studio will be discussed and offered should students need more time to complete their work.
