ACTING ROLES IN FORT PIERCE

The Bare Truth
Written by: H.G. Brown
Director: H.G Brown
Audition dates: November 17-19 2019
Show dates: January 23-February 16 2020

A retired couple, recently settled in South Florida, is tired of their daughter and married son constantly intruding in their life – and that’s not counting the grandchildren. The kids think they have to constantly check up on the old folks, since they are new to Florida and, well, they are old folks. With the help of a friendly, retired neighbor couple, the “old folks” decide on a drastic way to get some needed time alone. They tell their children they have become nudists. Their ploy works, but not the way they expected. Their daughter, a successful realtor – though divorced and unsuccessful in love – is shocked and certain any nudist camp is simply out to take their money and lower property values. Their son, an oral surgeon is sure if word gets out his parents are nudists his practice will suffer. His wife, on the other hand is enthusiastic and eager to learn more, in order to spice up their marriage. And then there are the grandchildren who think gramps and granny are totally cool. Enter the nudist camp director, an impossibly handsome man in his mid-forties, to complete the story as a possible match for the realtor daughter, courtesy of the happy couple next door. Visit www.pineappleplayhouse.com or call 772-465-0366 for more information.

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Visit www.pineappleplayhouse.com or call 772-465-0366 for more information.

Harvey
Written by: Mary Chase
Audition dates: March 22-24 2020
Show date: May 14-31 2020

Elwood P. Dowd insists on including his friend Harvey in all of his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarassment for her family—and especially for her daughter, Myrtle Mae—Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. At the sanitarium, a frantic Veta explains to the staff that her years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also, and so the doctors mistakenly commit her instead of her mild-mannered brother. The truth comes out, however; Veta is freed, and the search is on for Elwood, who eventually arrives at the sanitarium of his own volition, looking for Harvey. But it seems that Elwood and his invisible companion have had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors. Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn’t so bad after all. Visit www.pineappleplayhouse.com or call 772-465-0366 for more information.
