Bio
I began drawing at an early age. Sketch drawing from my comic book heroes, Batman, Superman and Mickey Mouse. I received my art degree from N.Y. State University. As Vice President & Director of Design at NBC Television in New York I created on-Air NBC TV promotions, receiving numerous art and design awards for their creativity and design. At NBC I was responsible for supervising the creation of the current NBC Peacock logo and its implementation for NBC’s owned affiliate TV stations. I was an Adjunct professor at SUNY College teaching Art & Design. I served in the US Navy Seabees in Newfoundland and was commissioned to paint life-size murals depicting Navy historical battle scenes.
Charles Blake, Painter/ Sculptor “Blake blends a fascinating mix of painting and sculptural elements to create a sense of surrealism and mystery in their design. Often elusive in their meanings, his paintings are collages of mixed media, primarily acrylic paint, steel, aluminum, wood and found objects that incessantly enforce verve and veracity. As a visual navigator, he invites the viewer to take a pensive, often haunting journey through the landscapes of intrigue, providing a poignant window into the very meaning of their existence.”

With muted colors and figures, his paintings evoke an old-fashioned sensibility. At times the subjects of his paintings portray a sense of dreamlike darkness as figures congregate in bizarre situations, peering out beyond the canvas into the eyes of the viewer. His textural paintings often depict scenes of family and friends, which are rendered in a full spectrum of deep, luscious hues and tones. There is also another side to Charles’ paintings, a lighter side with a sense of humor, where jovial characters dance and mingle or gaze longingly out into the distance. Charles often draws upon images, dreams, and memories that he feels very spiritually connected to, without becoming pretentious or obvious”. My paintings and sculptures have appeared in galleries and exhibitions in New York and Florida. “The world does not exist without mystery, which has always been a catalyst for the cr
