Artist Statement I believe that creating, or being able to appreciate art in any of its many forms, is one of the most rewarding experiences that a person can have. That is why I paint. Although my preferred medium is oil on canvas, I like to experiment with other materials that may complement the subject of my paintings. I enjoy exploring different themes and use a variety of techniques, always searching for new and interesting interpretations of allegorical and sometimes whimsical concepts. My style is contemporary and includes a broad spectrum of subjects that reflect the diversity of our social and physical environment. I am inspired by images of everyday life, including people, graffiti, abstract impressionism, or figurative representations. As an artist, I hope that no matter how detailed or abstract my paintings may be, the viewer will experience some emotion beyond the surface of my images.
Resume Born in Valencia (Spain), Jose was interested in art and architecture from an early age. Art classes in Middle and High School reinforced his interest and soon he was working as a draftsman in an architectural office while attending classes at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Years of technical and figure drawing cemented his passion for art and architecture. Jose completed his studies in Florida, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami’s School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
Jose is an active member of the Martin Artisans Guild and exhibits regularly at the Palm Room Art Gallery in Sewall’s point. He is also a Premium Artist member of the Saint Lucie Cultural Alliance and a member of Martin Arts and Art Associates of Martin County. His paintings have been exhibited in the A.E.
