Description
I have been a passionate creator of anything art for my entire life. I followed the creative path in my education and work throughout my life.
My work is bold in color and conceptually provocative. My abstracts all derive from previous paintings in that I dive deeper into the underlying compositions. My paintings capture and interpret natural environments and are rooted in American Modernism.* The expression of color and often minimal compositions is a consistent current in my work.
Photography, which has always been a vehicle for inspiration and experimentation, is a usual resource for my paintings. Being able to capture a place, or moment in time through the lens and transfer that to a 2-Dimensional surface is what I am called to do artistically. I often think of Picasso as my muse and motivator, not for his styles or even specific works but for the work ethic, the commitment to his art and the importance of making it authentic to what drives me to create a painting or capture an image.
