Description
Since my arrival on the Treasure Coast in 1989, I have pursued my lifelong traditions - hard work, music, cultural identity, and community involvement. My motivation for success has been inspired by the love of my family.
Our tradition has been to open the event by showcasing local young singers and dancers. It is so encouraging to see in this event people from different backgrounds, and ages enjoy the beauty of the Hispanic culture, Latin flavor, and traditions. I was part of the Saint Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council back in 2006. I have worked with other organizations such as the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society Mardi Gras and Zora Fest committees. The Treasure Coast International Film Festival was also another project that the organization started. In 2007, we were approached by local film director Jose Garofalo to start the Treasure Coast International Film Festival. TCIFF showcases independent films in a variety of venues on the Treasure Coast, while exposing our neighbors and the world to culturally diverse films and providing plenty of networking opportunities during all special events, seminars, parties, and filmmaker's nightcaps. The films also compete based on various categories, including a student film.
I feel fortunate to have been involved as Executive Producer of that’s livin’- the Zora Neale Hurston Story and City of Dreams – Documentary of the City of Port Saint Lucie’s 50th Anniversary. The organization and a new Board Member Jose Rivera are producing The Freestyle Music Summerfest coming in the Fall 2021. It features the popular dance music of the 80’s and 90’s. The arts can help unlock our imagination and enable us to see the world and the human condition differently. It inspires us and compels us to think and have been proven to impact future economic development, while adding to the economic, artistic, and cultural quality of life in our communities. We look forward to enhancing the arts and culture through all these ventures. Through all these experiences, we are delighted in seeing the beauty and passion we all have in hoping to make our community thrive in the arts. We look forward to enriching and being enriched by the wonderfully diverse community in the Treasure Coast!
