Program Services Manager

BACKGROUND

Brevard Cultural Alliance [BCA] has been appointed in the capacity of consultants by the County of St Lucie and will work with key stakeholders towards the building of a sustainable local arts agency for St Lucie County [LAA], the mission of which will be;

“To better position the arts and cultural sector as a significant contributor to the vibrancy, education and economic wellbeing of St Lucie County”.

The vision of the LAA will be that; “stakeholders, partners and county residents will be proud to be associated with this professional organization representing the arts and cultural sector in St Lucie County”.

The vision will extend to;

“Engaging and involving local creative practitioners and communities and encouraging further participation, knowledge sharing and co-design of cultural places and initiatives”.

This is a significant undertaking, with the outcome realized incrementally over a three year span, and will have a lasting and positive impact on communities. In order to ensure an appropriate presence in the county of St Lucie and to ensure that the LAA is working towards agreed outcomes BCA is hiring a self-motivated Local Program Services Manager, based in St Lucie County.

THE ROLE

The LAA Local Program Services Manager reports to the BCA Executive Director. The successful candidate will work directly with artists, galleries, arts organizations, business and community leaders. He or she will coordinate with staff members of BCA to ensure stakeholder needs are met. The candidate will be a creative and dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative and can-do culture. The successful candidate will enjoy working within the world of arts and culture and delight in creating innovative solutions to unanticipated problems. The position may require attendance at events outside normal working hours.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ideal candidate will be an articulate representative of the St Lucie LAA.
  • Will assess the arts and cultural offering, programmatically, geographically and by asset/facilities.
  • Will tap into the network of arts and cultural non-profits, organizations and artists to leverage their collective strengths through strong partnerships.
  • Will evaluate the variety and mix of programs offered by the organization to promote and create opportunities that are strategically aligned with the county’s aspiration to become a cultural destination and in the interests of the community as whole.
  • Will serve as liaison and support for the BCA Executive Director with County and City Commissions, Boards, arts organizations and community groups, including preparing and presenting information.
  • Assist in developing grant and funding sources, seeking sponsorships, preparing, tracking and reviewing applications and requests.
  • Solicit LAA member’s updated information for marketing and promotional activities and respond to media inquiries, as directed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of;

  • The Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Familiarization of website and CRM software updates
  • Marketing, promotion, and fundraising principles, strategies and techniques.
  • Effective communication with the public, community groups, artists, performers, and media in the context of supporting arts and cultural programs.
  • Report presentation.
  • Familiarity with visual and performing arts.
  • Public art program administration and implementation. 

Ability to:

  • Execute strategic directions, initiatives, goals and objectives as required.
  • Monitor and maintain delegated control of budgets.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Resolve complex issues and build consensus among diverse interests.
