Description
After a lifelong career as a graphic designer I have moved into new mediums in my semi-retirement years – mixed media and jewelry. Having been a two-dimensional artist most of my life, switching to three-dimensional design has been a true challenge. I started out doing jewelry, mostly Kumihimo braiding, but soon moved to more bohemian designs. Making jewelry allows me to use my hands again (after doing graphics on the computer for so long, I miss that part of the process) and I find it to be a very “zen” experience. I love putting together different textures and color combinations – it harkens back to the days of my absolute favorite college class, Color Theory. You will find that most of my jewelry pieces are very organic and unlikely to be duplicated.
My love of art began with drawing, so I branched out into mixed media and repurposed art. I wouldn't say I have a particular "style" as I go where the creative process takes me. I get a lot of inspiration from the visual world around me – from a colorful piece of clothing to the beautiful colors and textures of nature, to the amazing creativity of our diverse world. What could be more energizing than that?
