Description
Joette Giorgis has been playing guitar since she was a teenager. She has both a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in elementary education, with a concentration in music. She especially enjoys playing her own instrumental arrangements of folk songs, as well as a variety of music written for classical guitar. Joette has been teaching Suzuki classical guitar since 1997, and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Association of South Florida, and the Guitar Foundation of America.
She is founding president emeritus of the Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society. Joette has also been involved in music ministry since college. Presently, she is part of the music ministry at St. Bernadette’s Church in Port St. Lucie. In 2017, Joette began teaching ukulele. She directs the Blue Sky Plucked String Ensemble, which includes guitars, ukuleles, and mandolins. She also leads a monthly song circle and folk music jam at Savannas Preserve State Park on the second Sunday of the month.
