Hi, I'm the Cathy behind Cathy's Curiosities. When I was trying to decide on a name for my art studio I decided to go with Cathy's Curiosities. The reason is simple - my curiosity has led me to the various art forms and mediums that I enjoy working with.
As you are aware an artist requires a canvas to create their art. I don't believe that the artist always chooses their canvas; sometimes the canvas chooses the artist. That is what happened to me in 2015 when I discovered the type of book art referred to as book folding. The majority of the of books that I use are what I call "Rescued Books". That means that by various means I get the books just before they are sent to the landfill. Then I lovingly turn them into pieces of art for people to proudly display in their homes, offices, and places of business. Most people know me as a mixed media artist that specializes in the unique art forms of Book Folding, Teabag Folding and Iris Folding. That is because I have focused predominantly on sharing only my Book and Paper Art for the past several years. I think you will be pleasantly surprised as I begin sharing more of the art that my curiosity has led me to create.
