Hassan Patterson
Hassan has over a decade of experience in commercial art. As a lead designer at Clack Industries, Mr. Patterson produced popular t-shirt designs for Disney, Sea World, Ron Jon’s and other top entertainment companies.
He also worked as a caricature artist at Disney and Sea World, a set photographer and production assistant for the TV show Dream Machines on SyFy/NBC, and a concept artist, storyboard artist and illustrator for Adventure To Fitness, a TV show.
Art Form & Instruction
Hassan provides instruction for elementary, middle, and high school students in Illustration and Design using computer graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere Pro), as well as traditional media like acrylic, oil, pencil and pen.
Patterson’s instruction focuses on how art and design can be used in a practical sense. Because of his work as a cartoonist and caricature artist, Patterson has a pulse on what type of art or design appeals to a targeted audience like school-age children, adults, teenagers, etc.
Hassan’s projects include intensive cross-curricular integration. One example is creating a comic book. Comics are excellent tools to integrate arts to other subjects and disciplines. Comics may be based on book characters or historical events and feature scientific and mathematical principals studied in the classroom (Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math).
Through his comics program, participants will achieve a better understanding of comic art and experience the whole process of creation: history of comics, anatomy, composition/design, ink and coloring, storytelling/sequential art, character development and how to produce a comic book.
